As the point’s series at Northeast Dragway continues to heat up, drivers are already battling for the top spot. Each division has already had multiple leaders since the season got underway.

On Saturday, Edenton’s Joel Moreland went all rounds putting his dragster in the winner circle in the TOP ET Class.

“It’s been a while since I’ve made my way back into the winner’s circle,” Moreland said. “The best part of the night was having both my parents here. My dad and I have been racing cars since I was a young boy. We build ’em together and race ’em together. My mom puts up with a lot of late nights with us staying out in the garage into the late hours. And today I’m happy that she was here to see me take the big win.”

Other winners included: Bill Haskell (modified), Sharon Smith (street class) and Noah Siebert (junior dragster).

This Saturday, Chris Cox of Speed Oasis will present the Double Deuce Shoot Out. Money and trophies will be awarded in all TOP ET, Modified, Street, and the 5.90 Index classes, with a Pro Tree Bracket Race added.

Gates open at 11 a.m., time runs start at 1 p.m. with the rain date set for Sunday. For more information on this race and other events log on to www.northeastdragway.net.
