Ryan Achieves First Win at Northeast Dragway
There’s nothing that feels any better to a drag racer than when you get your very first win. David Ryan of Norfolk was all smiles when he pulled into the winner circle with his 1988 Pontiac Firebird at Northeast Dragway on Saturday night. Ryan a native of Norfolk Virginia is just in his second year of drag racing. When asking Ryan how he achieved this win tonight, he said “a lot of luck”. Ryan went round after round knocking out some of Northeast’s best drivers. Ryan faced veteran driver Eric Whitehurst of Edenton to take the big win in the Modified Class. Other winners in Saturday’s race were Shawn Carpenter of Rocky Mount, NC. Carpenter with a .0008 reaction time scored the win for him over Steve Shattuck in the TOP Eliminators Class, Darnell Tillett ran dead on his dial in to beat Tony Boone in the Street Class, Delton Dove out ran Spencer Claycomb of Virginia Beach, VA for the win in Pro Bike, and Justin Blythe earned back to back wins in the Jr Dragster Class when he beat Miss Allie Weisner of Camden, NC.
